The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is looking for a driver who hit and ran over a motorcyclist on Tuesday night. The victim died.
At 9:55 p.m., an SUV was going north on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard, while the biker was going east on Fruitville Road, according to officials. When the SUV got close to where the two roads met, it ran a red light and hit the rider.
The biker, a 21-year-old man from Orlando, had serious injuries and was transferred to a nearby hospital. He died while he was there.
The SUV driver left the scene of the accident right away.
Later, troopers located a 2020 Audi SUV that had been left on Interstate 75 and towed it away. They haven’t yet figured out if it was the same vehicle involved in the accident.
