ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — After a hit-and-run accident on Orange Blossom Trail early on Saturday morning, which resulted in the death of an Orlando man, Florida Highway Patrol officers are seeking for the pickup vehicle involved in the incident.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the collision took place only a few minutes after midnight on North Orange Blossom Trail near Rosamond Drive.
According to the investigators, a pickup vehicle that was driving north on OBT when it hit a pedestrian who was going east crossing that highway because the person walked directly into the path of the oncoming pickup truck.
The guy was not walking at a crosswalk when he was struck by the right-side mirror of the pickup truck, according to the troopers who responded to the scene.
As a result of the incident, the guy was knocked unconscious and was now lying on the road when the pickup truck drove away from the scene.
The guy was then hit by a second vehicle, a Toyota Tacoma, which had previously been trying to avoid him by swerving.
The victim, an Orlando male who was reported by FHP as being 63 years old, was declared dead at the site of the incident.
The driver of the Toyota Tacoma was not hurt and remained at the site of the accident.
According to the witnesses that the FHP talked with, the initial pickup vehicle was either a white or silver Chevy Silverado.
