Shocking Incident 12-Year-Olds Spot Gun at West Palm Beach School!

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. —There were a lot of cops at a private school in West Palm Beach after someone said there was a gun there.

The West Palm Beach Police Department told CBS12 News that police were sent to the Renaissance Charter School at Cypress on 8151 Okeechobee Blvd, close to North Benoist Farms Road, on Friday afternoon. Police say a student pushed an alarm button and said someone had a gun in the school.

“There were three kids who did the right thing. They were two 12-year-old girls and a 12-year-old boy. They saw a red laser light that looked like a gun to them. They thought a student with a gun was behind it. They told workers about it.

“The staff did something about it right away,” said West Palm Beach Police Department spokesman Michael Jachles. “The police department did something right away. In fact, there was an off-duty police officer in the area who was the first to come to help.

Parents told CBS12 that before 2 p.m., they got an email saying that the K–8 school was on lockdown. A lot of parents came to school to pick up their children while cops searched the building.

“I’m just staying cool and waiting to find out what’s going on. They said that everyone is okay now. “They’re just doing more searching, and we’re just waiting to hear what they find,” said Sabrina Valbrun, a mother of two kids in West Palm Beach.

After searching the school, the police said they didn’t find a gun, no shots were fired, and no one was hurt.

“We got the classes ready. We walked by the school. We made sure that there really wasn’t a gun there. “The students did the right thing; they saw something and spoke up about it,” Jachles said.

A school official told CBS12 News that a laser pointer was taken away, but no one was charged. The school also said that the fact that a gun was stated was a mistake.
