OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Troopers said that a man was driving on the Florida Turnpike in rural Osceola County when he shot at another car with three people in it, including a 5-year-old. The man was caught on Monday.
The Florida Highway Patrol says that around 3:30 p.m., a policeman saw Zion Zaire-Vincent Waller, who was 22 years old, moving in and out of the northbound lanes near mile marker 192 at speeds of up to 100 mph.
The report shows that the policeman went to catch Waller’s car as he continued to drive dangerously through traffic. When the car got stuck in traffic, the policeman was able to catch up to it and pull Waller over.
The cops then found a rifle and a handgun, both of which were loaded, on the floor of the car, the report says.
The driver of a pickup truck then pulled over to the side of the road and told police that Waller had shot at their car, pointing to a bullet hole in the driver’s side door and one in the passenger door.
Waller told the police that the pickup truck had been driving wildly around his car, and at one point “the driver pointed at him with what appeared to be a weapon,” according to the report.
FHP said that Waller said he feared for his life and fired one shot at the truck. The truck then sped up to get away from the suspect.
When troopers asked the suspect why he didn’t call 911, he said he didn’t feel safe pulling over.
Troopers said that when they looked through the truck, they didn’t find any guns.
Troopers also said that no one had been hurt.
Waller is being charged with many things, including three counts of attempted murder, aggravated abuse with a dangerous weapon, shooting or throwing deadly objects at a car, having a gun without a license, and driving recklessly.
He is being held in the Osceola County jail at the moment.
