TALLAHASSEE, FL. – A 23-year-old teacher is facing charges because police say she used her classroom to run a fight club for students.
Angel Footman is a teacher at Griffin Middle School. On April 5, she was taken into arrest.
Officials at the school say they found out about the situation when several parents showed them pictures and videos of the fights in the classroom.
Administrators say that Footman did not choose the fighters, but she did run the fights, did nothing to stop them, and did not tell them what was going on.
Reports say that Footman gave each fight “30 seconds” and that students couldn’t scream, yell, pull hair, or use their phones during that time.
Officials also said that some of the students were asked to fight again and were called out of other classes to do so. Footman is now being charged with helping a young person break the law.
