The individual suspected of shooting someone near downtown Orlando has passed away. Police report that they fled the scene and collided while being pursued by law enforcement.
Orlando police were called to a shooting incident on the 700 block of West Church Street, near Exploria Stadium in Parramore, around 1 p.m. on Wednesday. According to officers, the suspected shooter fled after a marked patrol car approached.
As per the police, officers gave chase as the suspect’s vehicle headed west on Michigan Street beneath Interstate 4 and attempted to overtake traffic using the eastbound lanes.
The suspect ended up colliding with an unrelated oncoming vehicle just west of I-4.
Investigators have stated that the suspect succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash at a nearby hospital. The passenger in the suspect’s vehicle also suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
The driver of the unrelated vehicle was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, according to the police.
Officers have advised that Michigan Street from I-4 to Westmoreland Drive will likely remain closed for several hours.
Drivers are urged to avoid this area.
