St. Pete Tragedy: Child Consumes Cocaine, Woman Assaults Another Child

A lady was detained by St. Petersburg police on suspicion of letting a 6-year-old consume cocaine and scratching an 11-year-old.

According to the arrest report, Laquita Owens, 33, became enraged with the 11-year-old girl and grabbed at her chest and side. She is scarred and had apparent bruises, according to St. Petersburg Police.

According to the complaint, when the 6-year-old youngster consumed cocaine that she discovered in Owens’ bedroom, Owens was not keeping an eye on her.

Cocaine was discovered in the child’s bloodstream when she was brought to the hospital. Court records state that woman admitted to officers that she had taken medications from the bedroom.

According to police, Owens acknowledged having drugs in her house.

She was charged with felony counts of child abuse and neglect on Friday afternoon and checked into the Pinellas County Jail. Her bond is set at $55,000, and she is not permitted to speak with the 11-year-old while in custody.
