A mid-July gunshot on I-465 on the west side of Indianapolis, which was linked to road rage, resulted in the arrest of an Indianapolis man earlier this month.
Latrail L. Ramsey, 19, was taken into custody on a preliminary allegation of aggravated violence, a Level 3 felony, in connection with the July 21 shooting incident, according to Indiana State Police officials.
Previous reports state that when police from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrived to a gas station on the west side of the city, they discovered that there had been gunfire in a vehicle on I-465. One guy, an eighteen-year-old who was driving a grey pick-up vehicle, was shot and taken to the hospital.
At the time, authorities said the truck was traveling south on I-465 when another motorist—whom the ISP says was Ramsey—allegedly drove up beside him and opened fire, shooting the vehicle’s driver’s door.
In a news statement, ISP officials stated that during the course of the shooting investigation, investigators discovered that the road rage incident started when a piece of trash blew out of the rear of the pick-up vehicle. Detectives suspect that this was the cause of the shooting.
ISP stated that search warrants were issued and served in connection with the case on Friday following the investigation. Ramsey was one of the three persons detained, according to the release. The two more males detained had nothing to do with the shooting on July 21.
