The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reports that a Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive has been apprehended again. On October 5, authorities took Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive Luis Becerra into custody. There will be a Crime Stoppers reward.
Following a traffic stop in Jim Wells County, close to Alice, Texas, DPS Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Special Agents from McAllen worked with Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office Deputies to follow up on tip information and find a car they believed Luis Alberto Becerra was riding in. Becerra, 38, was taken into custody.
After being found guilty in 2014 of assaulting a family member or household member by obstructing their breath or circulation, Becerra was given a 10-year probationary term.
He was sentenced to two years in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) prison after his probation was revoked in 2020. Since January 2024, Becerra has been wanted from Hidalgo County for aggravated robbery.
Anybody who gives information that results in the arrest of one of Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, Sexual Offenders, or Criminal Illegal Immigrants can receive cash rewards from Texas Crime Stoppers, which is supported by the Governor’s Public Safety Office.
After his probation was revoked in 2020, he was given a two-year jail sentence by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ). Becerra was wanted for aggravated robbery in Hidalgo County since January 2024. Here is more information about Becerra’s arrest.
Texas Crime Stoppers, which is supported by the Governor’s Public Safety Office, pays cash prizes to anyone who can provide information that results in the apprehension of one of the state’s top ten most wanted criminals, sexual offenders, or illegal immigrants.
With $19,000 in prizes for tips that resulted in arrests, DPS and other agencies have thus far in 2024 apprehended 37 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, Sex Offenders, and Criminal Illegal Immigrants, including 14 sex offenders, 10 gang members, and four criminal illegal immigrants.

Tipsters MUST give authorities information via one of the three following channels in order to be eligible for monetary rewards:
- Dial 1-800-252-TIPS (8477) to reach the Crime Stoppers hotline.
- On the DPS website, choose the fugitive you know more about, then click the link beneath their photo to submit an online tip.
- To submit a tip on Facebook, use the “SUBMIT A TIP” link located in the “About” section.
To choose fugitives for the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, Sex Offenders, and Criminal Illegal Immigrants Lists, DPS investigators collaborate with local law enforcement organizations. The DPS website has the most recent lists, complete with images.
