Are you ready for it? In 2024, the University of Florida will introduce a new course inspired by Taylor Swift. Titled “Musical Storytelling with Taylor Swift and Other Iconic Female Artists,” the 13-week course, as outlined on the university website, delves into Swift’s discography.
During the course, students will examine Swift’s captivating lyrics and draw connections to the works of other influential female artists, such as Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, and Dolly Parton.
Themes explored include “old flames, infidelity, aging, and double standards.”
The University of Florida joins a growing trend among colleges and universities in the United States offering courses inspired by the “Anti-Hero” singer.
Notable institutions like Berklee College of Music, Stanford University, and New York University have already embraced this trend.
Additionally, in Florida, graduate students at the University of Miami have the opportunity to explore Taylor Swift’s approach to intellectual property as part of their entertainment law degree.
