Tallahassee Animal Shelter’s Three-Day Adoption Event: A Resounding Success

Tallahassee Animal Shelter's Three-Day Adoption Event A Resounding Success

The Tallahassee Animal Shelter hosted the Petco Love Mega Adoption event from June 23 to June 25. During these three days, the shelter waived adoption fees and kept their kennels open, aiming to find loving homes for as many animals as possible.

A volunteer from the shelter expressed their excitement about the event, stating, “Currently, we have more animals coming in than leaving. Having this three-day event allows us to place them in healthy, happy homes, which in turn creates more space for incoming animals.”

Numerous animals found their forever families, bringing immense joy to the volunteers. One volunteer shared, “The adoption process has been incredibly successful. We have placed many cats and dogs into their forever homes, and there are still others waiting for their turn.”

Even for the animals still awaiting adoption, there is hope. “Often, people visit the shelter, take a look at the animals, and then go home to discuss it with their families and make a plan. They often return later in the week,” mentioned a volunteer.

The shelter’s director, Erika Leckington, reported that a total of 21 dogs and 46 cats were adopted during the weekend event.
