Woman Miraculously Survives Fall From Royal Park Bridge - How Did She Do It

After a 57-year-old woman fell from the Royal Park Bridge on Sunday night, police in West Palm Beach are looking into what happened.

Police say that the bridge went up between 8 and 8:05 p.m. 23 minutes later, the first call to 911 came in. The person who called said they saw a woman and a bike fall through the drawbridge.

A few minutes later, a passing boater heard the woman asking for help. He took her to a marina, where a fire rescue crew met them. She had small bruises, so she was taken to a hospital nearby.

In her first statement, the woman said she was walking from the west side of the bridge to the east side near the pedestrian path when the bridge started to move. She was three feet away from the warning gate for pedestrians.

They think she fell between six and ten feet. The bike was found in the part of the bridge below the road.

Police talked to the bridge worker, her boss, and FDOT, which is working with them. Police said that there is no monitoring because the cameras do not record.

Detectives want to talk to the woman again to find out more about what she said the first time.
