Detectives from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office are looking into a shooting that resulted in the death of a man at Phil Foster Park in Riviera Beach.

According to Sheriff’s spokesperson Teri Barbera, a man was discovered in the Intracoastal Waterway shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday.

Barbera mentioned that there were a few people in a boat found nearby.

When a WPTV news team arrived at the park, they observed a woman in a red shirt being restrained with handcuffs. However, deputies didn’t disclose her involvement.

The victim’s friends identified him as Josh, stating that he was in his late thirties. They noted that he originally hailed from Texas and had only recently arrived in Riviera Beach by boat, less than a month ago.

“He was a good kid,” said George Vaske, a friend of the victim. “He was trying to find work around here.”

Detectives are questioning some individuals as they try to figure out what caused the shooting.

As of Friday, the investigation into the shooting is ongoing. However, according to Barbera, there is no danger to the public.
