A 12-year-old blind cat that had been lost for two years was reunited with its owner on Thursday, thanks to social media and the caring staff at Cincinnati Animal Care.
There was just a two percent chance that the cat and its owner would reunite, according to Cincinnati Animal Care personnel. The cat was brought in after being rescued on I-75, according to Lisa Collins, a shelter employee.
“She was running into traffic and seemed a little wobbly,” Collins stated.
The 12-year-old cat struggled to fit in at the shelter after being checked out.
“Nora’s a fighter,” Collins stated. “She has a big personality and wasn’t much of a fan of any of the humans she interacted with.”
The owner discovered the cat after seeing her picture on social media.
“She wasn’t able to see her owner, but she did recognize her owner’s voice,” Collins stated. “As soon as she recognized her voice she came running to her owner, it was really beautiful.”
Collins reported that the reunion of the cat and owner was quite moving.
“Her owner lit up when she had Nora in her arms,” Collins stated. “It was really beautiful to see her smile and see Nora snuggle up with her. It was a wonderful reunion.”

At the shelter, reunions like Nora’s are uncommon, but when they do occur, the staff cherishes the occasion.
“Only ever so often do you see something like that happen,” Collins stated. “To have it happen here in our shelter is just a beautiful story that all of us will always remember.”
Nora did not have a microchip. For $15, Cincinnati Animal Care provides on-site microchipping. According to the shelter, it is easier to get your pet back if it becomes lost and is found by one.
