WEST PALM BEACH ―Police in West Palm Beach say a man was shot and killed in his home early on Sunday.
Investigators haven’t been able to figure out who the man was who was found dead south of Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard in the Roosevelt Estates neighborhood. His family has used a 2018 change to the state law that gives them the right to privacy and lets them keep his name out of public reports.
Officers went to the 1300 block of Ninth Street just before 10:30 a.m. when the ShotSpotter gunshots detection device sent them a message. After getting another 911 call, the police went to a house where they found a dead man who had been shot at least once.
In a car, one person drove away from the scene of the shooting. Mike Jachles, a police spokesman, said that officers found the car and set up monitoring at an apartment complex on Congress Avenue. Investigators got a warrant to search the car after police took it away.
Police have found a person of interest, but as of Monday, they had not said what his name was.
Jachles said that the killing was not an accident and that it is still being looked into.
