Authorities reported that a pack of twenty-five Great Danes was on the loose in a walking route when the mother from Northern California was mauled to death by the dogs.
Just before two in the morning on Thursday, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office reported that a neighbor on Blackhawk Trail near Feather Falls found the severely bitten body of 56-year-old Davina Corbin.
Corbin’s clothing was covered in DNA matching domestic dogs, and her body had “numerous bite marks and injuries.” According to the office, a medical examiner concluded that a domestic dog attack was the cause of her death.
According to the sheriff, she was discovered in front of a house on the route where twenty-five Great Danes were allowed to go wild.
After obtaining a search warrant, the investigators “spent the entire day capturing” the strays, who were then turned over to Butte County Animal Control.
According to the sheriff’s office, the animals’ DNA will be compared to the DNA found on Corbin’s body and clothing to identify the dog or dogs who attacked her. Corbin’s tragic demise was referred to some neighbors as a tragedy that was entirely avoidable.
Max Heckler, a neighbor who lives close to the walking trail, said that he and other neighbors have repeatedly reported the rambunctious dogs to Butte County Animal Control.

“Nothing’s been done about it until now,” he said to local station KCRA. “Wait until somebody gets killed by those dogs. That’s a tragedy that should have never, ever have happened, ever.”
“The Great Danes, they come across the road here at me,” Heckler stated. “I jumped in the car and left.”
According to him, animal control ought to have dealt with the matter at the time of the initial call. Butte County Animal Control received two calls regarding stray dogs and concerns regarding the diet and health of the animals, but no reports of violence were received.
Residents said Corbin resided near the Blackhawk Trail and frequently strolled along it. Investigators think that when the dogs attacked her, she was following the trail.
To assist with the cost of the funeral, her family has established a fundraising website.
