According to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, a couple from Florida is in arrest after they set up a date for a 73-year-old victim, following which the guy battered and robbed him.
The 73-year-old man was taken to the emergency room on February 22 with many injuries to his head, body, and arms, according to deputies who said medical workers reported the incident. The man’s head needed staples, and one of his eyes was swelled shut.
The victim reported to authorities that he had a romantic meeting with Chelsea Wright, 34, in a Daytona Beach club. Wright proposed that the two return to her home.
Wright pulled over on the side of the road to pick up a guy who was later identified as her acquaintance and ex-boyfriend, 33-year-old Andrew Marks, while the victim pursued her in a different car. They drove until she came to a stop and released Marks from the vehicle.
When Marks returned, according to the deputies, he hit the victim in the head with a hard metal item, pummeled him to the ground, and left his car and went to Wright’s. After stealing his wallet, Marks left the area. According to officials, Wright left the man bleeding on the ground and then escaped.
Afterwards, Wright was under observation and stopped for a traffic offense; upon pulling her over, police discovered drugs in her vehicle. She was taken into custody for both drug offenses and probation violations.
According to investigators, text messages detailing the two parties’ plans to commit the crime were discovered.
Marks was apprehended on March 1 after being found and charged with aggravated violence on an individual over 65 and robbery with a weapon. Due to the accusations, Wright was placed under custody.
