WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A tragic incident occurred in West Palm Beach, resulting in the death of a woman who collided with a concrete pole.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) received reports of the crash at 1:38 a.m. on Sunday.
Upon reaching the intersection of Military Trail and Belvedere Road, deputies discovered three vehicles involved in the collision.
After conducting an investigation, the PBSO determined that the driver of a 2018 Infiniti was traveling at a high speed in the center lane of Military Trail, heading north. Simultaneously, Sophie Prudhomme, a 29-year-old driver of a Hyundai Sonata, was traveling in the opposite direction.
According to investigators, Prudhomme initiated a left turn onto the northbound lanes when the Infiniti collided with the passenger side of her car.
As a result of the impact, Prudhomme’s vehicle veered and struck a concrete power pole. The Infiniti also collided with a Toyota Corolla following the initial crash. Fortunately, the driver of the Corolla escaped without injuries.
The 29-year-old woman was immediately rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead, according to the crash report. The driver of the Infiniti and their passenger were also transported to the hospital for treatment.
