TAMPA, Fla. — On Monday, FBI investigators carried out a search order at the residence of Lynn Hurtak, who is a member of the Tampa city council.
Agents reportedly arrived at the residence around six in the morning and were there until just before four in the afternoon, as reported by the Tampa Bay Times, which is a partner publication of Spectrum Bay News 9.
Agents removed several pieces of technology, including laptops, phones, and other devices, that belonged to Hurtak’s spouse, Tim Burke.
Burke is the owner and operator of the media corporation known as Burke Communications.
According to the Times, Burke said that he was unsure as to why the agents came to his residence; however, he did state that his name was on the search warrant.
He refused to provide anybody else a copy of the warrant.
In the most recent election, Hurtak was victorious in reclaiming the seat for District 3 that she had been assigned to the previous year.
Spectrum Bay News 9 attempted to contact Hurtak, but her assistant informed us that she would not be providing any comments on the FBI search.
