Fiery Collision on I-75: 21-Year-Old Wrong-Way Driver Triggers Crash, FHP Reports

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a collision involving a vehicle traveling the incorrect direction on Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County on Sunday left two persons in critical condition.

At 3:42 in the morning, a guy from Wesley Chapel, Florida, driving a Lexus IS was going the wrong way in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75, south of State Road 56, when he collided head-on with a Chevrolet Colorado, which then caught fire, according to the state highway patrol.

After that, the driver of the Lexus collided with a Hyundai Santa Fe until the vehicle finally came to a stop.

Both the 21-year-old and the driver of the Colorado, a 37-year-old male from Wesley Chapel, were reported to have sustained serious injuries by the state troopers.

The third motorist, a woman from Zephyrhills who is 36 years old, did not sustain any injuries.

According to the troopers, they are unsure of when the first driver began traveling in the incorrect direction. They also suggested that he may have been under the influence of anything during the collision.
