Firefighter Saves Child From Drowning in Record-breaking Floods!

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Flooding kept getting worse in Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday night, so a firefighter took a small child out of a home.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said that they got over 900 calls for help that night.

One of these calls was to help a family get out of their flooded house.

A video posted to the Facebook page for Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue showed one of the first rescuers carrying a child to safety while standing in water up to his waist.

“All right, buddy, I’m going to go back and get your mommy and daddy.” As he gave the child to another helper, the firefighter said.

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced a state of emergency in Broward County on Thursday after record-setting rain caused major flooding. On Wednesday, a total of 25 inches of rain fell.
