Florida Highway Patrol Discovers 78 Pounds of Cocaine During Traffic Stop

TAMPA, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) conducted a traffic stop on Friday involving a vehicle carrying 78 pounds of cocaine in the trunk.

The stop occurred around 12:30 p.m. when a trooper observed multiple traffic violations on westbound Interstate 4, just east of 50th Street.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the trooper noticed that the driver, Anthony Leon Carroll (49), and the passenger, Pablo Villalobos Campos (61), appeared to be excessively nervous.

Another trooper and K-9 Titan arrived at the scene, and the dog detected the presence of drugs in the vehicle.

Upon searching the car, authorities discovered two duffel bags wrapped in tape in the trunk. Inside these bags were 30 bundles of cocaine, collectively weighing 78 pounds.

Furthermore, FHP reported that loose money was found in the driver’s door, along with money in a black plastic bag on the backseat. Additionally, a small quantity of marijuana was also present.

Carroll and Villalobos Campos were subsequently arrested without incident and transported to Hillsborough County Jail, as stated by FHP.
