Deputies reported that a woman had harmed one of her children at their apartment on Tuesday, leading to the mother’s arrest.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, on February 20, deputies were called to the Preserve at Sabal Park Apartments in Seffner in response to a welfare check request.
They met 28-year-old Karyn Parrish and her two kids when they got there. A child under five years old appeared upset, was weeping, and was trembling, according to deputies who were engaging with the kids.
According to deputies, the child’s cheek had a bruise that was “nearly two inches in size.” “Maybe my mom,” the child answered when they inquired about how they were hurt. Perhaps she was giving me back scratches. She can’t recall. Mother informs her that she is forgetful.”
Deputies said that Parrish eventually acknowledged slapping the toddler at least three times.
Detectives claimed to have discovered films on Parrish’s phone during an inquiry, including one in which she threatened to kill the child and another in which she gave the order for one of her kids to assault the other with a belt.
After that, Parrish was detained, accused of abusing children, and brought to Orient Road Jail. The kids were taken out of the house and given to a family member.
