When a Kentucky couple decided not to take their vacation, it paid off when they won a $50,000 lottery prize.

A couple from Bullitt County informed Kentucky Lottery officials that they had intended to spend Labor Day weekend at a lake, but ultimately made the decision to return home early.

“I just wanted to watch football,” the spouse stated.

While heading home, the couple made a detour at Kroger on Mud Lane in Louisville and purchased a few scratch-off lottery tickets.

When they got home, they divided the tickets into groups to be scratched.

“He wanted to scratch the 500X ticket, so I just let him have it,” the wife stated.
