Police reported that someone tried to kidnap a 7-year-old girl from North Clinton River Park in Sterling Heights on Tuesday, leading to the arrest of that person.
Around 2:20 p.m., Sterling Heights police were called to the park regarding a disturbance. It was discovered by investigators that there had been a fight and that a youngster had perhaps been hit by a car.
According to police, a local citizen who was part of the city’s Citizens On Patrol saw the fight, stepped in, and took the suspect out of the vehicle. Upon their arrival, the police discovered that the suspect had made an attempt to abduct a 7-year-old girl.
The person, a Shelby Township resident who is 23 years old, has not yet been formally charged or arraigned.
The suspect was reportedly wanted by the police for a reported kidnapping that same day in Clinton Township. In relation to that event, Clinton Township police are looking to charge someone.
