In Tampa early on Sunday morning, there was a crash, and one person was taken to the hospital, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred when the driver of a Chrysler Sebring was speeding on Interstate 4 heading west, approaching the exit ramp to southbound Interstate 275.

At the same time, a Ford Pickup truck with amber flashers and a directional arrow was parked in the innermost westbound lane of the exit ramp from I-4 to southbound I-275.

According to FHP, the Chrysler driver disregarded the orange cones that were set up to guide traffic into a lane closure and collided with the back of the Ford.

The Tampa Fire Rescue had to extricate the Chrysler driver, and authorities suspect that the driver was under the influence.

Fortunately, the driver in the truck did not sustain any injuries.

The exit ramp from I-4 to southbound I-275, as well as Downtown East-West, remained closed until 6:30 AM.
