West Palm Beach- A man from Riviera Beach, Leroy Brown III, has been taken into custody after shooting a driver in a gas station parking lot.
The incident took place after 4 p.m. on Thursday at the Majestic Gas Station, located at 2624 N. Australian Ave in West Palm Beach. Brown was arrested on multiple charges including attempted first-degree murder, according to city police.
The Shooting Incident
West Palm Beach police reported that a Palm Beach Gardens man, who is also 22, was parked in his Volkswagen at a pump behind a van when a Mercedes pulled in behind him. The driver of the Volkswagen did not see the Mercedes and backed up into it, striking the front bumper.
Brown was identified as the driver of the Mercedes and was standing outside the car at the time of the incident. He then approached the Volkswagen with a handgun and opened fire at the driver.
As a result, the shooting victim sustained injuries and left the gas station in his Volkswagen. He opened fire from his weapon at Brown’s fleeing Mercedes, and a third car was struck by the gunfire. Fortunately, nobody was injured in the process.
Police Arrest Brown
The victim, whose name has been withheld for privacy reasons, drove himself to St. Mary’s Medical Center for medical attention. Meanwhile, the police conducted surveillance on an apartment complex in the 7000 block of Banyan Leaf Drive, off Belvedere Road, close to Florida’s Turnpike, where Brown’s car was located.

Police later found and recovered a .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun and arrested Brown, charging him with attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, shooting into an occupied vehicle, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and discharging a firearm in public. Brown was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail early Friday, according to police.
