Police Shoot Suspect Firing Shots at First Coast High School Football Game

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has reported that a suspect who fired shots into a crowd as they were leaving a football game at First Coast High School was subsequently shot by the police.

As per the police statement, the suspect sustained a minor head graze and a gunshot wound to the leg. There is no confirmation at this time whether the suspect was a student.

The individual has been transported to the hospital and is in serious condition. Fortunately, no other injuries have been reported.

Earlier in the day, the Sheriff’s Office received information from the school police regarding potential altercations.

In response, law enforcement personnel heightened security measures for the game between First Coast High School and Ribault High School.

The Chief of Police for Duval County Schools is of the opinion that, thanks to the security protocols in place, the suspect was unable to enter the game venue with a firearm.

The shooting incident occurred after the game’s principal decided to conclude the game during the third quarter due to ongoing fights.

The State Attorney’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into the matter.
