Tampa Sheriff Hunts Suspect in Tire Slashing Spree

Early on Thursday morning, there was a broad act of vandalism committed against vehicles, and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the event.

On Grand Prix Way in Tampa, deputies responded to a number of reports reporting that tires had been slashed.

After further investigation, it was discovered that similar instances had occurred at other adjacent establishments, such as La Place Plaza, AutoZone, and Tuffy.

A male of Hispanic ethnicity was seen on surveillance film systematically causing damage to tires in the parking lots by using a pointed item. During the course of the ongoing investigation, more than 20 automobiles have been found to have sustained damage.

Freddy Rafael Lopez, who is 26 years old, has been named as the suspect in this case.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest, and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is currently making efforts to find him.

Sheriff Chad Chronister said that, “This unwarranted act caused significant hardship to dozens of community members. Our persistent detectives have worked diligently to compile evidence and footage to bring this criminal to justice where he will have to answer for his crimes.”
