10-Year Jail Time Handed to Tallahassee Driver in Hit-and-Run Fatality

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – According to records from Leon County court, a man from Tallahassee who was found guilty of a fatal hit-and-run incident will be serving a 10-year prison sentence.

Ryan Smith-Mosley received this sentence after being convicted for a hit and run in January 2020, which resulted in the death of Jeremiah Bruce, a 26-year-old individual.

The collision occurred on Highway 27 near Northmont Drive, where Bruce was walking. Video footage from a nearby business revealed the driver exiting the vehicle after the accident, expressing frustration with an expletive, and then quickly driving away.

Smith-Mosley’s trial, held last month, concluded with his conviction for fleeing the scene of a deadly crash and tampering with evidence. According to court records, he has been sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by a five-year probation period.
