A man who was influenced by drugs barricaded himself in his Riviera Beach home for more than six hours on Sunday. The police, including a SWAT team, were present near Martin Luther King Boulevard.
The man was inside the house alone after his family had safely left. Around 11 a.m., the authorities resolved the situation, and he was taken to an ambulance in handcuffs due to a “self-inflicted injury,” as stated in a news release.
As of now, there is no further information about the man’s condition.
After receiving an emergency call on Sunday morning, the Riviera Beach Police Department (RBPD) sent their SWAT team while obtaining a search and arrest warrant from a judge.
According to the news release, the tactical team successfully removed the man from his home without any problems and charged him with being a felon in possession of a firearm and discharging a firearm inside an occupied residence.
“The Riviera Beach Police Department commends the professionalism and dedication of its officers, as well as the cooperation of all involved agencies, in safely resolving this highly volatile situation,” the news release stated.
