WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Police say that a 22-year-old man shot and killed another man outside of his house.
The West Palm Beach Police Department said it got a Shot Spotter gunshot identification on April 16 near 9th Court, near Australian Avenue and Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard, just before 10:30 a.m. While cops were on their way to the scene, a 911 call came in saying that a man had been shot in front of a house in the same area.
Police say that by the time they got there, the 36-year-old guy had already died from the gunshot wounds.
Early on in the case, the cops were quick to point out that it wasn’t a chance attack.
On Tuesday, the cops said that the suspect was a 22-year-old man named Tracyn Young. Police say that the 36-year-old guy was shot at 1322 9th Court, which is where Young lives.
Police said Young drove away in a rented BMW SUV, but the car was quickly found at an apartment complex on North Congress Avenue.
The cops caught Young and talked to him. Detectives and crime scene officers got a search warrant and went to Young’s house to look for proof.
Based on the analysis done by the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office, witness statements, and Young’s comments after Miranda, detectives charged him with first-degree murder with a gun on April 19.
