Breaking News: Head Coach Brandon Walker Leaves Park Vista for Dr. Joaquin Garcia High

Brandon Walker, who used to be the head football coach at Park Vista, told the Cobras in March that he would be taking a job at another school.

This new job is the first head football coach at Dr. Joaquin Garcia High.

Walker and Pam Romero, who is currently the sports director at Park Vista, will move to the new school in Lake Worth. They will be two of the first people to work in the new school’s athletic department.

Walker took over for the Cobras after the controversial departure of Leonard Weaver III and went 2-8 in his only season there. One good thing about his time as coach was a 21-18 win over unbeaten Santaluces in the second-to-last game of the regular season in 2022.

Before Park Vista, Walker was the sports director at Boca Raton High. He moved into that job after two years as the head coach of the Bobcats’ football team. Over two seasons, Walker had a record of 13-8.

In 2010, Walker got his first job as a head coach at Somerset Academy-Pembroke Pines. The American Heritage-Plantation graduate ended up coaching for five years at Cooper City High, where his team went 23–28 and made it to the regional quarterfinals in 2016.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School is the first new public high school in Palm Beach County in 20 years. It will serve the western part of Lake Worth. It will open in the fall of 2023.
