Though it’s still extremely early, Osceola County has the potential to house one of the biggest data distribution hubs in the world.

According to Raymond Stangle, Community Development Administrator, a business is considering constructing a 7 million square foot facility on a roughly 450-acre plot of land near Yeehaw Junction.

“An applicant has requested a pre-development application with the county, coming up in early October,” he stated.

It’s not too far from U.S. 441 and close to the intersection of State Road 60 and the Florida Turnpike.

“It is known as the Yeehaw Transportation Distribution Center and actually, Osceola County has been preparing for this type of development for some years. We actually have comprehensive plan policies established for the development of this project,” Stangle stated.

According to Stangle, the county has been waiting for a project of this kind to use the area, which is presently primarily used for pasture. He promised that the benefits would be felt throughout our region and that the wetlands on the site would be conserved.

“I think this will have a far-reaching effect to both Osceola County and how we develop and the counties that comprise Central Florida,” Stangle stated.

Following the pre-application meeting, the project would proceed to the zoning stage and subsequently the building phase.
