K-9 Unit Honors Son of Fallen Tampa Officer at High School Graduation

The whole K-9 unit of the Tampa Police Department cheered on the son of a fallen officer as he graduated from high school.

On May 18, Adam Roberts, the son of Cpl. Michael Roberts, who was murdered in 2009 while performing his job, received his high school diploma. Fifteen years after his father’s passing, Adam was reminded of the K-9 unit’s assistance.

Brandon Barclay, the president of the Tampa Police Benevolent Association stated that, “We are so proud of what Adam has achieved after losing his father at such a young age. “It’s not just our brave officers who are part of the PBA community, but their family members as well. We were thrilled to be on hand to celebrate Adam’s high school graduation, and we know he’ll go on to do great things.”

Adam lost his father when he was just three years old.

Since his father’s shooting death while conducting an investigation into the killing of former US Virgin Islands police officer Humberto Delgado, who fatally shot Robert in the chest with an AR-15, Tampa PBA has maintained communication with Robert’s family.

Delgado received a reduced sentence of life in prison after being found guilty of first-degree murder and given the death penalty. Right now, Adam is choosing which university to enroll in.
