A Tallahassee man, Stephon Avant, 32, is facing a range of charges, including attempted murder, following an alleged stabbing incident involving a woman on Monday.
Avant has been charged with attempted murder, kidnapping for a felony, snatching robbery, burglary with assault in a vehicle, throwing a dangerous object, and obstructing the use of 911.
On Monday around 11 a.m., deputies from the Leon County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a business in the 3800 block of North Monroe Street in response to a domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, they discovered a woman with multiple stab wounds. She was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, as stated by the sheriff’s office.
The Special Victim’s and Violent Crimes Units from LCSO also arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation. Detectives learned that Avant had left the scene in a vehicle.
Shortly after, deputies located Avant driving the vehicle on Geddie Road and initiated a traffic stop. During the stop, they noticed bloodstains on his clothes and cuts on both of his hands.
He was apprehended and taken to a local hospital for medical attention. Based on the evidence and witness accounts, he was then arrested and transported to the Leon County Detention Facility.
