As part of the Governor’s Hurricane Conference, a large number of first responders, emergency managers, and officials from communities all around the United States are now gathered in West Palm Beach.
The Palm Beach County Convention Center is where the conference is being held.
This year’s theme is Partnering for Success, which emphasizes the need for communities to work together to support one another when conditions become difficult due to tropical weather.
Attendees often concentrate on their training during the slower-paced days of Monday and Tuesday. There will be many training sessions beginning on Wednesday to ensure that organizations from all around the nation are aware of what to do if a storm hits.
Monday morning saw Victor Jorges of WPTV having a conversation with Paul Womble, the president of the conference.
“We have to train together, as well as prepare together, respond together, and recover together,” Womble remarked. “Cooperation is the key to success in every aspect.”
He said that the time to be ready is right now. In addition to this, he said that it is in everyone’s best interest for the heads of the various agencies to get acquainted with one another now, when “the skies are blue,” rather than when stormy weather is expected.
The conference will go through the 12th of May, and during that time there will be training sessions, seminars, and exhibitions showcasing the most recent advancements in meteorological technology.
“Everything is going technology—drones and communication, and the way to get the word out,” Womble added. “Everything is going technology.” “We want to make sure that in the event of a crisis, people have a way to receive warnings and that they know what to do,”
