A Florida high school teacher and ROTC captain finds himself in custody after accusations of assaulting a student and having a firearm on school grounds.
According to the Tampa Police Department, the incident unfolded when a 16-year-old student at Chamberlain High School declined participation in a physical training session.
This refusal led to a confrontation with the teacher, identified as 55-year-old Michael Bradford.
The student alleges that Bradford grew upset when he refused to partake in the training, and Bradford allegedly stood over him as he performed a plank exercise.
Witnesses claim that Bradford smacked the student on the buttocks and made an inappropriate comment during the incident.
According to police statements, when the student attempted to contact a parent, Bradford took the student’s phone and threw it in the school’s parking lot.
Fortunately, the student did not sustain any injuries during this altercation.
Authorities subsequently accompanied Bradford to his office to collect his personal belongings. During this process, officers discovered a handgun with a loaded magazine in a cabinet within Bradford’s office.
As a result, Bradford was arrested on charges of child abuse and possession of a firearm on school premises.
