WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A West Palm Beach jury has found a man guilty of killing a 16-year-old girl.
Larry Darnell Young Jr., who was 27 years old, was found guilty of manslaughter with a gun and three counts of attempted manslaughter on March 29. According to police, he shot and killed a 16-year-old girl who was visiting a friend.
Police say that on Dec. 10, 2021, Young’s girlfriend, Keosha Marquivia Carn, who is 31 years old, called him and told him to go to 17th Street near Spruce Avenue. Investigators said that Carn fought with several other women before she called Young to come over and “shoot it up.”
Witnesses said that Young came with a long gun and started shooting when he got there. One of the bullets hit a teenage girl who had just gone to visit a friend at an apartment complex nearby. Marsy’s Law says that the name of the person who was shot cannot be released.
Police said she was just a bystander and had nothing to do with the fight.
About 10 days after the murder, U.S. Marshals caught Young at Carn’s home in Fort Pierce. Carn was also charged because she was involved.
Young will be sentenced next month, and he could get at least 30 years behind bars.
